About Camp

Insulin dependent children have been experiencing the joys of summer camp at the Texas Lions Camp since 1971. The Camp is especially designed for campers who have been newly diagnosed with diabetes, and is offered at no charge to the campers and their families. Diabetes management training and education are provided to campers through a medical staff working under the supervision of an on-sight medical doctor.

While at Camp, campers have the opportunity to enjoy many activities including: swimming, horsemanship, ropes course, arts & crafts, nature studies, animal science and horticulture, music, drama, recreation and athletics, shooting sports and overnight/outdoor campouts.

In addition to the medical education of campers, the Camp offers education to parents and families of Campers by providing a parent's day as well. The medical director of the Camp will present an informative and entertaining seminar on your child's diabetes management- completely free of charge. Please see the schedule listed below.

To Attend Camp

• Campers must be a resident of Texas.
• Campers must be between the ages of 8-15 prior to the beginning of their session.
• Campers must be insulin dependent, and be diagnosed as having Type 1 Diabetes.
• Parents/guardians must complete and submit an application form and receive notification of approval from Camp.
• Each camper must have a Lion sponsor.
• (The Camp would be happy to assist you in locating a sponsor for your child).
