Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Children’s Diabetes and Endocrine Center of South Texas. Dr. Ponder specializes in the care of children, teens and young adults with type 1 diabetes. He has a perspective as a provider and as a person with type 1 diabetes for 44 years. He has planned and executed numerous Young Adult Diabetes Retreats dating back to 1990 and has directed the Texas Lions Camp Diabetes program for 20 years and involved with the diabetes camping program for 30 years. Dr. Ponder has extensive experience in the medical, emotional and social needs of young adults with type 1 diabetes.
